Getting started

Install Pocket Paste, grant permissions, and learn the two keystrokes that matter.

Install

  1. Download the .dmg from the homepage and drag Pocket Paste into Applications.
  2. Launch it — Pocket Paste lives in your menu bar, not the Dock.

Grant permissions

Pocket Paste needs one system permission to do its job:

  • Accessibility (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility) — required for the text expander to detect abbreviations and for paste-in-place to work.

The app walks you through this on first launch. No network permissions are needed — Pocket Paste works fully offline.

The two keystrokes

ActionDefault shortcut
Open clipboard historyConfigurable global hotkey (set on first launch)
Quick-paste an item⌘1⌘9 while the popup is open

Open the popup, start typing to search, hit to paste the selected item into the app you were just using. That’s the core loop.
