Privacy Policy

Pocket Paste is a clipboard manager — an app that, by nature, sees what you copy. That's why this policy is deliberately simple: your clipboard data stays on your Mac, and we never see it.

The app

What the app stores

  • Clipboard history and snippets are stored locally on your device, in your macOS user Library folder. They are never transmitted to us or to any third party.
  • Settings (preferences, hotkeys, exclusion lists) are stored locally.

What the app deliberately does not record

  • Content typed or copied in secure input fields (e.g. password boxes).
  • Content copied from known password manager apps.
  • Content from any app you exclude in Settings.

Network activity

The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDK. Its limited network calls are:

  • Trial registration — once per installation, sends a one-way hash of the Mac hardware identifier, Mac model, chip family, RAM capacity, macOS version, app version, and the request IP address/country to our own licensing service. We use this to calculate the seven-day trial, understand supported hardware, and detect repeated trial installations. It never includes clipboard content, raw hardware serial numbers, file names, or file paths.
  • License activation/validation — sends your license key, the same hashed device identifier and hardware fields to our licensing service. The service records the request IP address/country and last validation time to enforce purchased device limits, handle unbinding, prevent abuse, and provide license support. Never clipboard content.
  • Update checks (if enabled) — fetches release metadata; sends no personal data.

This website

  • Waitlist / contact emails: if you submit your email, we use it only to send the update you asked for. We don't sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
  • Purchases are processed by our merchant of record (payment provider), who handles payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order metadata to deliver and support your license — never your card number.
  • Cookies/analytics: this site sets no tracking cookies.

Data retention & deletion

Clipboard data lives only on your device and is deleted when you clear it or uninstall the app. Trial/device telemetry and order records are kept as long as reasonably needed to prevent repeated trials, enforce and support licenses, and meet legal obligations. To request access to or deletion of information we hold, email us; we may retain the minimum fraud-prevention or transaction record required by law.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above will be updated. Material changes will be noted in the changelog.
